The on-going impasse in Manipur University haw spilled over to the colleges affiliated to the university across the State.
Over 20 colleges affiliated to Manipur University have been indefinitely shut-down on Thursday by Joint College Students’ Forum (JCSF) as a part of their agitation demanding resolution to the issues surrounding Manipur University Vice Chancellor and for the declaration of examination result.
Most of the colleges of Imphal area including DM College of Arts, Science and Commerce, GP College, Imphal College, Manipur College, Oriental College, NG College and others were shut down since Thursday morning.
Earlier on July 7, the JCSF had staged a march towards the Chief Minister’s official residence demanding declaration of the college examination results.
However, the march was halted and confrontation took place between security personnel and students.
Moreover, the students’ body had served an ultimatum to the Chief Minister demanding declaration of college examination results of second, fourth and sixth semesters within July 11, but their demand fell on deaf ears.
The students’ forum was of the view that the ongoing impasse in Manipur University has adversely affected the academic functioning of all colleges affiliated to the varsity and also put the career of students at risk.
As the results for sixth semester examination is still undeclared and the subsequent need for mark sheets to apply for post-graduate studies has indeed become a crucial question for the students.
