Six PLA cadres arrested with weapons in Imphal west.

Imphal: Manipur Police on Tuesday arrested six cadres of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the armed wing of the banned Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) in a raid in Imphal West district.

Some arms, ammo, mobile phones, and one Gypsy vehicle were recovered from them, a police press statement said on Wednesday.

The ages of the arrested cadres are between 24 to 49 years.

On getting specific information that some cadres of the outlawed outfit PLA/RPF are taking shelters in an area of the Lamsang village under the Lamsang police station in Imphal West district, the police launched the operations at around 7 am on Tuesday.

The search operation that lasted around three hours yielded the arrest of six cadres of the outfit with the recoveries of one 9mm pistol along with one magazine, one .32 pistol along with one magazine, sixteen live ammunition, eight mobile phones, and one Gypsy vehicle.

They are identified as Nandeibam Opendro Singh @ Rishikanta (49), Yumkhaibam Rakesh Singh @ Puri (32), Ngangom Lakhan Singh @Nanao (24) Wangkhem Ratan Singh (47), Heisanam Deben Singh (41) and Moibungkhongbam Binu Meitei (49). The arrested individuals along with the confiscated weapons were handed over to the Lamsang police station for further legal proceedings, the statement added.
