Guwahati: A day after students clashed with the security forces during their march to Raj Bhavan in Manipur’s Imphal, situation in the trouble-torn state on Wednesday (September 11, 2024) remained tense but under control.
However, curfew, imposed in Imphal on Tuesday, continued to be in place on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, security has been beefed up with additional forces being deployed.
Police personnel have been frequently patrolling the state capital in order to prevent any untoward incident.
Students clashed with the security forces the previous day during a march to the Raj Bhavan.

The protestors attempted to march towards the Raj Bhavan to demand the removal of the state police chief and security advisor to the Manipur government.
The security forces had to resort to firing of tear gas shells in order to disperse the protesting students.
Over 55 students were reportedly injured in scuffle with the security forces.
The Manipur government on Tuesday ordered suspension of internet services in view of the intensified protests by the students.
