Manipur Imphal: The Manipur government has issued a warning to approximately one lakh state government employees who have been skipping work hours due to the ongoing communal violence.

Imphal: Ahead of the Legislative Assembly session commencing on February 28 (Wednesday), the Manipur police have tightened security arrangements and posted 300 state and central personnel to guard the premises.

The 5th session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly which will continue till March 5 will have five working days.

It will begin with the governor’s address followed by obituary references, a presentation of the Business Advisory Committee report, supplementary demands for grants 2023-24, and a presentation of budget estimates for 2024.

The traffic in and around assembly areas has been diverted and police would not allow any processions and protests at the Assembly premises and its surroundings to prevent any untoward incidents.

In the prevailing law and order situation amid rallies against the possible extension of the Suspension of Operations between the Union government and Kuki militant outfits, adequate security measures are being taken up, officials said.

Traffic, task force, bomb disposal, and dog squad personnel would also be deployed.

The traffic police would not only ensure orderly entry into the Assembly premises but also ensure that there are no traffic jams on the thoroughfares in front of the Assembly.
