Guwahati: Acting on a tip-off, the security forces recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the hilltop of Sabungkhok Khunou, Imphal East District in Manipur, police said.
Manipur Police informed about this on their X handle.
Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, said a police official.
During the search operations, the items recovered were four improvised long-range Mortar (Pompi), one fired case of improvised long-range Mortar (pompi round), two fired cases of Lathode, one 9 mm pistol along with the magazine, one 7.65 mm pistol along with the magazine, two 303 Rifles along with one magazine, 34 live ammunition rounds, 03 (three) number 36 Hand grenades without detonator from hilltop of Sabungkhok Khunou, Imphal East District, the official said.
All the recovered items were later deposited to the nearest police station.
