Imphal: Security forces have launched extensive search operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur over the past 24 hours.

Over 73 persons from these villages were questioned, verified and later released.

However, six individuals have been detained by the Manipur Police for violating the law, police said.

On the other hand, a total of 112 checkpoints were set up across different districts of the violence-hit state in order to prevent the movement of miscreants with weapons.

Meanwhile, the movement of 104 and 16 vehicles carrying essential items was ensured along National Highway 37 and National Highway 102, respectively.

Strict security measures are being taken in all the vulnerable locations of the state and a security convoy is being provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of vehicles, police added.
