Imphal: A Manipur Police sub-inspector was shot dead allegedly by a constable on duty in Jiribam district of the state on Saturday morning.

The deceased, Shah Jahan (40), was allegedly shot by the constable Vikramjit with his service weapon, a .303 rifle, at around 11 am, police said.

Both Shah Jahan and Vikramjit were posted at a police outpost in Jiribam.

The accused Vikramjit

Shah Jahan, who sustained a single bullet wound, died on the spot, police said.

He was a resident of Yairipok town in Thoubal district.

A case has been registered and the accused is currently being interrogated.
