The Government of India has released a total amount of Rs nine crore under the Schedule Caste fund for Andro, Sekmai and Leimaram villages in Manipur for dairy farming.

This was disclosed by Manipur Forest and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar on Wednesday while speaking at the inauguration of the Torongthel Community Hall in Andro Khunou, Andro constituency.

Minister Shyamkumar further said he has sought funds from the Ministry under the Schedule Caste sub plan for the piggery farming in the Andro constituency in Imphal East district.

Highlighting the development in the education sector, he said that the Government of India has released Rs 4.75 crore for the development of Andro High School.

Stating that for further improvement in the field of education, Centre has granted Rs 25 crore for the construction of model residential school in Andro constituency.

Speaking about the various Central projects undertaken in the constituency, he said that a dam is under-construction at Nungkot, Andro under central funding of Rs 13 crore.

Likewise, Centre has also allocated Rs seven crore for the development of the Andro Santhei Natural Park to boost tourism in the area.

Raising concern over the depleting forest covers at various places, Forest and Environment Minister said he plans to undertake tree plantation drive at the necessary areas in Andro Constituency during the upcoming ‘Go to the Village’ mission, an initiative under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh which is beginning next month.

Appealing the citizens to build up a society where there is no difference between the hills and the valley and where division between communities, Th Shyamkumar said the State Government is determined and committed for the welfare of every sections of the society.

Minister Shyamkumar appealed to the citizens of the Torongthel, Andro Khunou to maintain patience and assured that he will take up various developmental works in the area.

Assuring to the people of Torongthel that black topping on roads will be done within next two months, Minister Shyamkumar appealed for cooperation from every sections of the society in order to bring progress and development in the State.
