Manipur joint forces arrest alleged smuggler, seize ?1 crore WY meth tablets, and recover arms, IED in separate operations

Imphal: Manipur Police, working jointly with central security forces, have apprehended a suspected drug trafficker and seized โ€œWorld is Yoursโ€ (WY) methamphetamine tablets valued at around Rs 1 crore in the regional illegal market.

In a separate operation conducted within the last 24 hours, the joint team also recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition, officials said on Wednesday.

In the first operation carried out on Tuesday, the team arrested Md. Sajid Khan (28), a resident of Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhul Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district.He was detained at Sekmai Pangaltabi, near Life Line Hotel and LNC and Sonโ€™s Filling Station under Sekmai Police Station.

Authorities recovered 10,000 WY amphetamine tablets weighing approximately one kilogram from his possession, along with other incriminating materials.

In a second operation, joint forces recovered a cache of weapons from the foothills of the Chakma Hill range under Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district.

The seized items included a stun gun, one double-barrel breech-loading (DBBL) firearm, one single-barrel breech-loading (SBBL) firearm, a pistol with a magazine, an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing approximately 2 kg, and an I-COM radio set.

Officials added that the arrested individual, along with the recovered items, has been handed over to the concerned police station for further legal action.
