Manipur Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Karam Shyam rode his bicycle from his official quarters at Sanjenthong in Imphal to secretariat office in Imphal as part of observing the World Bicycle Day on Monday.
World Bicycle Day was widely observed across Manipur on Monday.The main highlights of the observation include bicycle ride by bicycle enthusiasts at many places of the State.

A number of bicycle enthusiasts studying and working in diverse fields besides film actors and models participated in the second Imphal city ride in Imphal on Monday.
The event which covered cycle ride from western gate of the historic Kangla Fort in the heart of Imphal town to Ideal Club premises at Tera bazaar along Imphal-Silchar route was organized by Mountain Biking Association with supports of well wisher, sources said. The ride was flagged-off from Kangla Gate by Pooja Elangbam in the morning in presence of film actor Soma Laishram.
Bicycle Riders Club of Thoubal and Lions Club of Thoubal also jointly organized World Bicycle Day at Thoubal district headquarters, 30 km south of Imphal along Imphal-Moreh route on Monday.

Thoubal municipal corporation chairperson Th Shyam and convenor Dr Ksh Manglem (retd) of Bicycle Riders Club of Thoubal and other prominent citizens also participated in the ride from Thoubal Wangmataba to Wangbal in the district.
Notably, Manipur minister Karam Shyam was the first minister in the BJP-led coalition government in the north-eastern state of Manipur to arrive at his office riding a bicycle in 2017.
As announced on November 26, 2017 during a programme called Cyclothon at Malom Oil Depot in south Imphal, the minister Shyam used to ride his bicycle from his official residence at Sanjenthong till his office at Old Secretariat, Babupara, covering about one km on few Thursdays in the past.
