Manipur’s Givson Singh Moirangthem scored for India U-16 football team that registered a 2-1 win against the Malaysia U-16 in friendly match at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Selangor. Earlier U-16 Indian boys were defeated by Malaysia 3-0 on Monday,

The Indian junior team is in Malaysia to prepare for the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) U-16 Championship. The Championship will be held in Malaysia in September.

Rohit Danu scored the first goal for India through a penalty in 21st minute of the first half. Givson scored the goal for India at the 31st minute of the first half.

Malaysia reduced the margin during the injury time of the second half.

The Young Indian brigade dominated most of the play but Malaysia were not giving up and almost went on to convert an opportunity in the 38th minute but missed the target.

India went into the break with a two-goal lead and kept pressure on home side in the second half.

India coach Bibiano Fernandes made two changes to the first eleven. Niraj Kumar replaced Lalbiakhlua Jongte in between the sticks, and the introduction of Manish Chaudhary in the stead of Gurkirat Singh was the other change.
