The Kuki Women Union (KWO) Manipur celebrated its 25th year of existence on Thursday at Thomas Ground of Kangpokpi district headquarters.
The celebration organized under the theme ‘We have realized the miracle you have done’ was held to commemorate the immense contribution and roles of women in the society and also celebrate and honour the memorable life of its past leaders who beget the Union for the welfare of the society.

State Social Welfare Minister, Nemcha Kipgen; president, Kuki Inpi Manipur, S Lunpi Thangjom, and Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi, Rangitabali Waikhom attended the event as chief guest, functional president and chief host respectively while chairman, ADC Sadar Hills, Haokholal Hangshing and Thangkhosei Haokip shared the dais as guests of honour.
The celebrations commenced with Nemcha Kipgen unveiling the monolith erected to commemorate the silver jubilee of KWU Manipur in front of KSO Sadar Hills Administrative Building in the presence of all the other dignitaries while reverend Thenkim Singson dedicated the monolith.
As a part of the celebrations, a souvenir published in connection with the silver jubilee of KWO Manipur was released by Haokholal Hangshing while pastor of KCC, reverend J Lunkim conducted the condolence service and a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of honour and respect to the departed leaders of the Union.

In her speech as chief guest, Nemcha Kipgen stressed on the vital roles and immense contribution of women community in the society and lauded KWU for their contribution and efforts for the welfare and uplifting the lives of all Kuki women in particular and the women of the state as a whole.
