The renewed strategy dried the weapons pipeline leading to the number of armed ultras and anti-social activities dropping drastically in the past few weeks in the state, said a senior police officer.

As a part of the strategies, around 32-34 acres of poppy-cultivated land in the hill ranges of Makui and Makui Ashang in this district were destroyed during the past 36 hours.

The poppy plants in both these hill ranges had been previously destroyed on December 14, 2023, the police officer said.

Destroying the illegal items was followed by search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of the district.

During the operations, the following items including one Carbine Machine Gun with Magazine, one Chinese Hand Grenade, one US Made .32 Pistol with Magazine, one-inch Mortar Red Round, and one Local Made Pumpi were recovered, the officer added.
