Guwahati: The Indian Army on Sunday paid homage to the fallen soldiers of the Sino-Indian War in Imphal West and Tengnoupal districts of Manipur.

Kohima-based Defence PRO Lt Col Amit Shukla said a commemorative programme was organised by the Indian Army at Khurkul in Imphal West district and Bethel High School in Tengnoupal district’s Moreh.

During the programme, the Army paid homage to the gallant actions of the soldiers who laid down their lives while guarding the nation during the Sino-Indian War of 1962, he added.

The programme commenced with a solemn tribute to the bravehearts by lighting a lamp.

A comprehensive presentation highlighted the historical significance of the day, recounting the valiant saga and inspiring stories of the heroes in true tradition, upholding the ethos of the Indian Army, he added.

Lt Col Shukla said the audience, comprising of young students, were encouraged to draw inspiration from the gallant actions and selfless service for the motherland.
