Newly-appointed Manipur Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi on Thursday inspected the condition of the Integrated Check Post and the Indo-Myanmar border trade at the border town of Moreh.

During the visit, Manipur Governor Prof Mukhi was accompanied by the First Lady, Governors Secretary Th Chittaranjan, Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Tengnoupal district besides top officers of the Assam Rifles deployed at Moreh town.

After checking the condition of the Integrated Check Post near the Moreh gate number 1, Governor Prof Jagdish Mukhi inspected the conditions of the Indo-Myanmar border bridge and the Indo-Myanmar Friendship Gate No 2.

Later, after the inspection, Governor Jagdish Mukhi held a meeting with representatives of several civil society bodies and community leaders at Moreh.

The State Governor also interacted with the traders about the issues and problems being faced by them.

The main grievances of the people – lack of proper infrastructure of the district hospital located at Moreh and the deteriorating conditions of the inter-village road – were brought to the notice of the Governor by the leaders of the various communities, reports from Moreh town said.

It may be mentioned that Prof Jagdish Mukhi, who is also the Governor of Assam, was sworn in as the Governor of Manipur during a solemn ceremony at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, Imphal on May 2 after Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla left the State on a leave for four weeks to attend her relatives in United States.
