Manipur Governor gifts ambulance for welfare of Senapati district.

Imphal: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey has gifted an ambulance for the welfare of the people residing in the Senapati district dominantly inhabited by the Naga community in Manipur.

According to a Raj Bhavan communiqué issued on Wednesday, the Uikey flagged off an ambulance for the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Senapati District branch at Raj Bhavan in Imphal.

The ambulance was donated by the Governor.

Talking to the members of IRCS and media persons, the Governor said there has been a long-time demand for providing an ambulance to the Senapati district branch and given its necessity, the ambulance is being given to the branch.

It will help in reaching out to the people both in the Senapati and Kangpokpi districts.

Lauding the efforts made by the team IRCS, the Governor said that for the sake of humanity, IRCS has been engaged in many humanitarian services.

She said, the role of IRCS in reaching out to the violence-affected people in Manipur is highly appreciable and it will continue to serve the people of the state.

Relief materials like tarpaulin, mosquito nets, blankets, hygiene kits, kitchen sets, etc. have been distributed at many relief camps both in the hills and the valley.

Recalling her meetings with the President of India along with state Governors and the Union Health Minister, the Governor said, she had requested the President to extend all possible assistance to the state because of the situation arising out of the conflict which broke out in May 2023.

The President accepted her request and 11 goods-laden trucks (relief materials) have been received.

On the recent flood that wreaked havoc in many parts of the state, Governor said, IRCS has been trying to reach out to the affected people and relief materials will be distributed once the materials reach Imphal.

State Secretary of IRCS A. Nabachandra, R.S. Avel, Member, IRCS State Management Committee, Chairman, IRCS Senapati branch Benjamin Tao, and other members of IRCS attended the ceremony.
