Another new daily English newspaper called ‘The Morning Bell’ has been launched during a simple function in Imphal on Friday.
Manipur Information and Public Relations Minister, Thongam Biswajit Singh, Former IPR Director Meghachandra Kongbam, Publisher Laimayum Bashanta Sharma, who is also the chief editor and editor RD Alexander attended the formal launching function at its Thangal Bazaar office in Imphal.

Speaking on the occasion Information and Public Relations Minister Biswajit Singh has assured full cooperation and support from his side to the media fraternity in the State.
He said that even though a report or news can be shared very fast through the social media today, newspaper is still a medium through which public can verify and confirm the reports to be genuine.
He also urged the editor and staffs of the daily to maintain accuracy in their news report.

Stating that accurate news will also mean improving quality of the media house which will eventually improve business, he added.
A newspaper or a news agency’s credibility will improve and also gain popularity with masses if they continue to make their reports accurate.
Highlighting the importance of maintaining accuracy in filing one’s report besides recognizing the role of a reporter in shaping the society, the minister promised all possible welfare measures or benefits for the journalist fraternity.
With the launching of The Morning Bell, Manipur would now have a total of 34 daily newspapers including seven English dailies.
There are 26 dailies including 12 local vernaculars published from four hill districts and five evening newspapers.
Besides, there are also couple of weekly and monthly magazines.
