Manipur is experiencing cold weather since the last few days after low temperature hit both hill and valley districts.
The people in the hill districts particularly Senapati and Ukhrul have been facing cold winds since the last four days. Temperature is also going down in Churachandpur(6.3 degree Celsius on Thursday), according to various weather reports.
The minimum temperature recorded on Friday as per Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) at Imphal was 3 degree Celsius against 4.6 on Wednesday while the maximum was 25.1 degree Celsius.
Senapati district headquarter, a hill town located about 60 km from Imphal, recorded a minimum temperature of 4.2 degree Celsius on Friday, against 6.8 degree Celsius on November 25.
The rest of the district headquarters of the state recorded above 6 degree Celsius as minimum temperature, Climate change cell of state environment department reports said.
In and around state capital too, the minimum temperature dropped from 6.4 degree Celsius (November 24) to 4.6 degree Celsius on November 30, as per Indian Council of Agricultural Research Manipur centre daily weather records.
On the other hand the weather forecasts of IMD indicate the low temperature weather conditions in the next few days till December 2 with fog and mist in the morning and partly cloudy clear later followed by fog and mist from December 1 onwards.
However, regular fog is predicted everyday from November 30 to December 6.
While the residents in the hill district headquarters particularly Senapati and Ukhrul continue to face low temperatures since the past few days, residents in Imphal have started using charcoal and electric heaters to warm up their homes in the morning and evening, according to reports.
