The Communist Party of India (CPI) Manipur state council leaders have appealed to the party workers stationed in the district levels to work hard to send their Lok Sabha polls 2019 candidate Dr Moirangthem Nara to the Parliament to air the voice of the voiceless.
The appeals and observation of the CPI Manipur leaders was made while sharing their opinion and thoughts during the 93rd foundation of the party at its party office at the Irabot Bhavan in the heart of Imphal town on Wednesday.
CPI is first political party in Manipur which had announced the name of their Lok Sabha polls candidate.
CPI Manipur council secretary L Sotinkumar, former state secretary L Iboyaima, CPI leader A Lala, secretariat member Sorojini Devi and district council leader S Yaima were the presidium members of the foundation day. CPI was established at Kanpur on December 26,1925.
Most of the speakers in the day’s observation narrated the history of establishment of the communist party and its present status.
CPI Manipur council secretary Sotinkumar highlighted the achievement and roles of the party in taking up the welfare of the general public with or without their representatives in the State Assembly or in the Parliament.
“We’ve a big role to bring development and a change in the society,” Sotinkumar said claiming that his party had initiated the removal of the AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act) from the greater Imphal area in Manipur some years back.
He also accused the ruling governments for not addressing the important issues of the State including border pillar 81 issue, citizenship bill issues etc.
On the other hand, the CPI state secretariat member S Sorojini Devi who attended as lone lady presidium member during the foundation day observation said that CPI is the only option for Manipur to raise people’s voice in Parliament.
Both the ruling BJP and opposition Congress works for their self interests, she alleged.
In his presidential speech, district leader S Yaima also appealed to the party workers to take up necessary ground works for strengthening the party in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls.
