A joint team of sleuths from the Narcotics Control Bureau of India in Imphal and Assam Rifles on Wednesday night seized 2.79 kg of Methamphetamine tablets also commonly known as WY tablets in Moreh of Manipur.
This was disclosed in a tweet by the Narcotics Control Bureau of India in its official Twitter handle.

The seizure of the drugs was made from car at Moreh, the frontier town of Manipur along Indo-Myanmar border.
The security personnel team also arrested a drug trafficker identified as one Md Feroze, a resident of Moreh in Manipur.
The source of the seized drug is believed to be neighbouring Myanmar.

Meanwhile, interrogation is on of the arrested drug peddler to extract more information on smuggling of contraband substances from across the Indo-Myanmar border.
Notably, the tablets which are party drugs have high demand in metropolitan cities across the country.
These drugs make inroads into the country through the Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh in Manipur and along Indo-Bangladesh border in Tripura.
These tablets are then transported to various metro cities.
However, recent crackdown by security personnel along Indo-Myanmar border, especially at Moreh in Manipur has led to seizure of sizeable quantity of such drugs.
Several such drug peddlers were also arrested by security personnel belonging to Manipur Police and Assam Rifles in recent times.
