Manipur state Congress president, Gaikhangam on Sunday refuted rumours that some MLAs of Manipur Congress will join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He also announced that ‘mission 2022’ will bring absolute majority for the Congress in the coming general assembly election.

He was speaking to media on the sidelines of the programme during the one-day booth level interaction programme held today at 3/8 Kangla Sangomsang, Imphal East.

The programme was organized by Khurai Block Congress Committee.

He claimed that the seven MLAs who were elected from Congress and later joined BJP have now started regretting for their wrongful decision taken without a second thought.

The rumours are spread with the attempt to destabilize the Congress party, he said.

However, it will be futile for the political party which is spreading rumours through cheap politics, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, the Congress president said interaction programmes are organized as the party has stated that in order to strengthen it, interactions are needed not from higher level but from the grassroot level.

He said that political strength can be made after hearing the grievances faced by the workers in grassroot level.

He said there are 60 MLA seats and out of the total, Congress will get absolute majority by winning 45 seats in the coming general Assembly election.

Such booth level interaction programme is first of its kind in the entire nation and has been carried out to strengthen the party, said Gaikhangam.
