Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh and Major General Ravroop, Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) met and discussed the prevailing law and order situation following reports of renewed exchanges of gunfire between the central forces and suspected militants in this strife state in the early hours on Friday.
According to an official report, the intermittent gunfires traded between the combined forces —Assam Rifles and Gorkha Regiment and suspected Kuki militants at the Langjingmanbi, Khoken, and Sagaithel villages located at the interdistricts of Imphal West and Kangpokpi at around 2 am on Friday.

Following reports, the state forces and police also rushed to the spot.
The exchange of gunfires stopped after the central forces opened fire on three searched lights into the air at around 5 am on Friday.
There is no report of the casualty in the firing but the joint teams of the central and state forces are still launching a massive combing operation in the suspected areas to trap the attackers.

Following reports of renewed violence, Maj Gen Ravroop, IGAR (South) called on the chief minister at his secretariat office on Friday. CM in his X post shares, “Had a productive discussion on the security measures being undertaken at border areas and vulnerable spots, while focusing on combating illicit trafficking of contraband items, anti-national elements, and the enforcement of law & order in the region.”
