Manipur CEO reconstitutes state level Media Certification Committee

The state level Media Certification Committee (MCC) has been re-constituted further as per an order issued by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur, on Tuesday in partial modification of the office order, dated March 16, 2019.

The re-constituted state level Media Certification Committee (MCC) includes additional CEO/joint chief election officer as chairperson.

The committee comprises returning officer – Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency (DEO – Imphal West); station director (AIR), Imphal/News Editor (AIR), Imphal/authorized representative (AIR), Imphal and intermediary expert/social media expert as members.

The re-constitution of the member has been done in pursuance of ECI’s letter no 491/Paid News/2019/Communication dated 25 th February, 2019 (vide para 3).

In another development, a meeting with two central election expenditure observers for Outer Manipur (ST) Parliamentary Constituency was held with DEO/DC Haobam Rosita of Thoubal in the chair at counting hall of the office of the deputy commissioner, Thoubal district headquarters on Tuesday.

The two central observers are BK Singh (in-charge for Thoubal, Jiribam, Chandel, Ukhrul districts) and Vijay Kumar Kantheli (in-charge for Kangpokpi, Senapati, Tamenglong, Churachandpur districts).

In the meeting, the two observers spoke on election expenditure and its monitoring and consequences of failure to comply with them. They also explained the different roles of expenditure monitoring machineries including expenditure officer (EO), assistant expenditure officer (AEO), flying squad and static surveillance team (FS and SST), video surveillance team (VST), video viewing team (VVT), media certification and monitoring committee (MCMC), accounting team and liquor monitoring team etc.

The meeting was attended by SPs, Thoubal and Kakching, AEOs of Thoubal and Hill Districts, AROs of Thoubal and Kakching districts and concerned nodal officers.
