Sehlon Battalion of 28 Sector Assam Rifles established an employment generation centre in Tuitong which lies in the Samtal area of Dingpi region, which is the remotest region of Manipur.
This was stated in a press release issued on Thursday.

The objective of the centre is to provide the local populace with the much deserved livelihood, and presently 20 ladies in two phases are being trained in the centre.
After the training they will be provided with of authentic weavers card State Government of Manipur along with bonafide certificate.
Sehlon battalion under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme also provided 60 sewing machines and 20 wool weaving machines to the cause which was centralised at Phoilen, Tuitong, Old Samtal and New Samtal villages, the release stated.

The release also mentioned that Aina Battalion of Churachandpur Sector Assam Rifles had conducted a successful Border Area Development Project (BADP) from July 15 to August 14.
While mentioning that the skill development project was run for 30 days in which 15 young students from the border villages were trained in carpentry skills, it also stated that the project was run in collaboration with NESEED.
The trainees will also be eligible for Mudra loan after completing this training for further expansion of their work, the release added.
