Assam Rifles seized the party drugs worth Rs 3 crore in Manipur’s Moreh during patrolling along the Indo-Myanmar border

Guwahati: The Assam Rifles has foiled yet another cross-border smuggling attempt and seized nearly 11.5 kilograms of narcotic drugs in Manipur.

The paramilitary force seized the consignment of drugs at L. Phungchong village of the bordering town of Moreh in the state’s Tengnoupal district.

The troops of Assam Rifles spotted an abandoned two-wheeler while conducting area domination patrol along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The team of Assam Rifles saw an individual coming towards the vehicle from the woods. However, on seeing the troops he managed to escape taking advantage of the thick foliage.

On thorough checking of the vehicle, nine full packets and one torn packet containing WY tablets, a party drug, were recovered.

The estimated cost of the seized addictive tablets is Rs three crore in the international market

The recovered contraband item along with the two-wheeler was handed over to the Moreh police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
