Guwahati: The Assam Rifles on Wednesday said its troops have apprehended three cadres of banned militant outfits from Tengnoupal district of Manipur.

Acting on specific intelligence input regarding movement of insurgents, the Assam Rifles launched search operations in Tengnoupal district.

During one of the operations in the Yangoubung area, troops of the paramilitary force apprehended an individual with a weapon.

During interrogation, he identified himself as a cadre of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak-Progressive PREPAK (PRO).

In another operation, the Assam Rifles laid ambushes and apprehended two cadres of the proscribed outfit People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

The apprehended cadres along with the recovered weapon were later handed over to Manipur Police.
