A total of 258 Anganwadi Centres out of the newly sanctioned 1000 will constructed within the campus of the primary schools in Manipur in order to maintain better academic environment and other factors.
Disclosing this, Director Jacintha Lazarus of Social Welfare on Thursday said that the department has identified the locations of the new project.

It may be mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stones for the construction of 1000 Anganwadi Centres recently.
Director Jacintha also informed that Anganwadi Centres in the State are provided to have its own building in a phase-wise manner.
Anganwadi building construction which has been taken place under 5th phase, 1000 centres are under progress and for 6th phase, 1000 sanctioned by the Ministry is yet to be finalized at the rate of Rs 4.5 lakhs.

The Social Welfare Department launched various welfare schemes and programmes in the year 2017-18 which includes Chief Ministergi Shotharabasingi Tengbang (CMST),Construction & amp; Up-gradation of Anganwadi Centres/Building, One Stop Centre (Sakhi), toll-free 24 hours Women Help-Line no 181, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
CMST was launched as an umbrella scheme on December 3, 2017, International Day on Persons with Disabilities with an aim for providing the needed care, assistance and dignity to the persons with disabilities, the aged homeless persons and their care-givers.
Till date, the Department is extending care-giver allowance @ Rs 1500 per month to the 1167 persons with disabilities with high support needs, scholarship @ Rs 3000 to Rs 8000 per annum to 170 students with disabilities, free travel & amp; concession to 370 persons with disabilities and 282 homeless older persons.
The Department is also in the process of identifying more number of deserving beneficiaries for providing the benefits under these schemes.
During the month of November and December, 2017, State Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Health Department, Manipur and Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment,Government of India conducted 11 Assessment cum Identification camps for issuance of Disability Certificates in all districts and identified 2150 numbers of persons with disabilities for facilitation of disability certificates and 1343 numbers of persons with disabilities for providing suitable aids & appliances like wheel chair, tricycle, crutch, white cane, hearing aids etc.
Regarding ICDS-Supplementary Nutrition Programme, Director explained that nutrition for children have been regularly provided to the children of Anganwadi centres through methods approved by the Ministry.
Nutrition is provided to Anganwadi centres in two methods –meals in the form of rice, dal and vegetables or it can be provided as supplementary nutrition packets.
The packets are provided and prepared in the Anganwadi centres, she added.
