Manipur’s ace boxer Mary Kom bagged the gold medal quite easily in the 51 kg category at the finals of the 23rd President’s Cup in Indonesia on Sunday.

Mary clinched the gold medal after defeating Australian boxer April Franks 5-0.

The six time world champion basked herself in gold glory just two months after her remarkable achievement in the second Open India Boxing Tournament held at Guwahati.

Mary also won gold medal at the second India Open Boxing Championship by defeating Vanlal Duati in a unanimous 5-0 verdict in the 51st kg category.

She also posted a video of her winning moment at the 23rd President’s Cup on her official Twitter handle.

Mary tweeted, “Gold medal for me and for my country at #PresidentCup Indonesia. Winning means you’re willing to go longer,work harder & give more effort than anyone else. I sincerely thanks to all my Coaches and support staffs of @BFI_official @KirenRijiju @Media_SAI”.

The 36-year-old boxer will now be looking to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The boxing tournaments in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 25, 2020 to August 9, 2020.

Apart from Mary Kom, another woman boxer from northeat also bagged the gold medal at President’s Cup in Indonesia.

Assam boxer Jamuna Boro won the gold medal by beating Italain boxer 5-0 in the 54 kg category.
