Mangaldai Town Club won the ‘A’ Division Inter-Club Senior Super League Limited Over Cricket Tournament organized by Mangaldai Sports Association (MSA) at Mangaldai on Tuesday.

In a nail-biting final played at the Mangaldai Stadium, Mangaldai Town Club got the better of Mangaldai United Club by one wicket with 2.3 overs to spare.

United Club opting to bat first after calling the coin correctly scored a fighting 124 runs losing all their wickets in the stipulated twenty five overs.

Jyoti Prasad Deka of United Club scored 33 runs in 34 balls while Syam Goswami (33 in 54 balls) contributed equally but in a slow pace. Manoj Barman (3/17) was the pick of the bowlers for the Town Club.

On the other hand, chasing a victory target of 125 runs, Town Club boys started their innings cautiously but they kept on losing wickets at a regular interval.

However, a quick score of 37 (6*3,4*2) runs by Gautam Barman in just 20 balls ably supported by Dishanta Kakati (35 in 40 balls) and Manoj Barman (14) helped Town Club to reach their target (125) losing nine wickets in 22.3 overs.

For the United Club, Emon Choudhury (2/20) and Saber Ali (2/26) were the most successful bowlers. After the final, veteran sportsman and retired Army man, Pradyut Kr Emong, Secretary of Mangaldai Sports Association Anupam Deka, Chairman of Mangaldai Municipal Board Pratap Bodoloi and other guests gave away the prizes to the winners.
