Guwahati: A tragic incident unfolded over a trivial matter in Agartala when a tea vendor refused to serve a man tea and cigarettes over past ‘dues’ that were yet to be cleared.

The whole scenario turned violent when the man attached the tea vendor named Sukhen Das with a piece of brick.

Das suffered multiple injuries on his head after the accused, Dipankar Sarkar, hit him repeatedly with the brick.

Das had warned Sarkar a couple of days before to clear the previous due if he wanted to buy more from the tea shop.

After the alleged attack, Das was shifted to GBP Hospital in Agartala for treatment but couldn’t be saved.

The widow of the tea vendor Bithi Das lodged a complaint with the East Agartala police station on the same day he succumbed to his injuries.

Sarkar was arrested on the same day and produced before the court.
