Malaria continues to haunt the tribal villages of Dhalai district in Tripura with more and more patients admitting to the hospitals for treatment.

However, no new death has been reported over the past three days.

The scenario has turned grim in tribal villages like Deo RF, SK Para, Rajdhar and Malidhar – all under Longtarai Valley subdivision of Dhalai district.

Some villages of Gandacherra and Ambassa subdivisions are also severaly affected by the killer disease.

Meanwhile, the health department has drawn up slew of measures to contain spreading of malaria to new areas.

As part of precautionary measures, the department has already begun spraying of DDT to destroy larva in all eight blocks of the district.

Meanwhile, a medical team comprising pediatric specialists has already been deputed at Ambassa hospital to treat the malaria patients.

Altogether seven malaria positive cases were detected after testing blood samples at Ambassa hospital on Sunday.

In some cases, children are diagnosed with ammonia (blood deficiency) which is making them more vulnerable to malaria.
