After her tirade against Union Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain in Guwahati, All India Mahila Congress President and Member of Parliament from Silchar, Sushmita Dev didn’t stop in vilifying him out in her own home town of Silchar.

Taking out a rally of District Congress Mahila Morcha in Silchar on Thursday, Dev marched from party office at Indira Bhavan to Khudiram Bose statue chanting slogans and protesting against the alleged links of various Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs and MLAs in sex scandals throughout the country. Pointing her fingers towards Rajen Gohain for his alleged sex scandal involving a woman in his hometown of Nagaon, Dev shouted for ‘Beti Bachao, BJP Hatao.’

She also didn’t stop in naming the alleged links of a few BJP MLAs from Barak Valley, just a week back, for their involvement in a sex racket when two women registered an FIR at Rangirkhari police station, and within a day or two, had to retract their statement under political pressures.

An effigy of Rajen Gohain was later burnt on the street with chants of his removal ranting the air. These Mahila Morcha workers lamented in unison that statement like Beti Bachao by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become a farce now.

Speaking to Northeast Now Sushmita Dev said, “You see an FIR has been lodged against Rajen Gohain for his alleged sexual harassment of a woman and within a day or two the statement gets reverted. Gohain then calls up the husband of that lady and uses foul languages and threatens him. What sort of justice is this? The Prime Minister of India says, Beti Bachao, Beti Padao, at least, Narendra Modi should first save this betiyas from his own ministers.”

“For the sex scandals that has engulfed in Silchar and names of a few BJP MLAs from Barak Valley too are linked, I want a detailed investigation to be done and protection should be extended to these two ladies,”  Dev, added.

A memorandum in this regard was later handed over to Deputy Commissioner Cachar in this regard.
