Imphal: Out of 436 cases that were taken up, 306 cases were successfully resolved with a total settlement amount of Rs. 3,51,11,270 during the first National Lok Adalat for the calendar year 2024 in the state.
The Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with the High Court Legal Services Committee and District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) organized the first National Lok Adalat for the calendar year 2024 on Saturday at all the District Courts & High Court, the court officials said.

Three benches of Lok Adalat were held at Lamphel Court Complex, Imphal to which 299 cases were taken up and 233 cases were resolved with a total settlement amount of Rs. 2,96,31,204.
Similarly, the Adalat was also held at the District & Sessions Court Complex, Thoubal.
During its sitting 80 cases were taken up and, 73 bank recovery cases were successfully resolved with a total settlement amount of Rs. 54,80,266.

The sittings were also held in Chandel and Tengnoupal Districts in which a total of 67 Bank recovery cases and five pre-litigation cases were listed.
Talking to the newsmen, Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, MASLSA said that around 2,600 cases of pending and pre-litigation cases were listed for the entire state.
These cases can be settled before the Courts, Lok Adalat and Mediation, he added.
