Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday interacted through video conferencing with the residents of some villages in Northeast that have been electrified after the NDA government came to power at the Centre.
Along with villagers from across the country, Prime Minister Modi also interacted with a group of women from Ghogora Kachari village under Dhekiajuli police station in Northern Assam’s Sonitpur district, News Live reported.
The Prime Minister’s interaction covered beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana – ‘Saubhagya’ scheme.
Indira Basumarati, a housewife from Ghogora Kachari village, said electrification has changed their lives and the trouble they faced earlier have all disappeared.
“We used to face lots of hardships earlier, from carrying out our day-to-day activities to charging mobile phones and carrying out various other works,” Indira said.
PM Modi also asked the women villagers about Hima Das and the record-setting gold medal she won at the IAAF Under-20 World Championships in Finland.
“Do you watch TV now? Do you know about the young girl from Assam who has made your State and the nation proud?” PM Modi asked the group of women villagers during the interaction.
“Yes, we know her. She is Hima Das. We have seen her on TV,” Indira Basumarati answered.
Prime Minister Modi also interacted with villagers of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur and Tripura.
Modi further said the Government has accorded priority to the development of eastern India and with complete electrification the region can play an even bigger role in India’s development journey.
