Within 24 hours, Nagaon Police managed to arrest all the accused in the Kampur gang rape case that shook Assam on Friday.
The accused have been identified as Nazrul islam alias Mazat Ali (prime accused), Sultan Ali, Momtaz Ali, Ikramul Haque, Farzul Haque, Majidul Ahmad, Habibur Rahman and Nazirul Haque. All of them hail from Kakatigaon under Kampur Police Station in Nagaon district.
Shankarbrata Raimedhi, Superintendent of Police, Nagaon informed media persons that a Special Investigation team headed by Additional SP ( Security), Nagaon, apprehended the 8 culprits from Kakatigaon area on Friday night.
It is to be mentioned here that a woman along with her husband was travelling to her mother’s home in Hojai from Jagiroad on a train. When the train reached Chaparmukh Junction, the eight culprits pulled her along with her husband out of the train.
The culprits took both of them to an isolate place where they beat up the husband leaving him senseless. After that, they allegedly raped the woman in front of her husband, looted Rs 20,000 and left both of them in a senseless state.
When the duo came to their senses in the morning, they went to the Kampur Police Station and filed an FIR.
Based on the FIR, Kampur Police registered a case (50/18) under sections 367(D), 395 of IPC and started their investigation and within just 24 hours, the police succeeded to nab all the culprits.
