People of Rangapara constituency in Assam on Sunday took to the street protesting against junior minister Pallab Lochan Das for his lackadaisical attitude towards their problems.
The vast number of people protested against the lax attitude of the junior minister regarding various important issues of his constituency.
While campaigning for the election, Pallab Lochan Das promised to build a strategic bridge to ease transportation in Rangapara, however two years have passed and no progress has been made so far.
The people who came out in protest branded the minister a ‘liar’ and demanded that immediate attention be paid to the lack of amenities in Rangapara.
Lack of proper roads and bridges, up-to-date medical facilities, adequate educational facilities and various other problems continue to plague the people residing under the Rangapara constituency.
“Teachers from other places refuse to come and teach in our schools due to the lack of basic facitilities” a protestor said.
“We want the minister to know that the public will not bear up to such atrocities and the lax attitude of the government will no longer be tolerated,” another protestor said.
The constituency is in serious need of a bridge as the bamboo bridge that is built over the river was washed away during the turbulent monsoon floods. This poses a serious problem for the village as normal day to day activities come to a standstill and is completely cut off from the rest of the state.
