In yet another inhuman act, the butchered body of a killed elephant has been pictured slumped in Behali reserve forest along Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

The mutilated carcass of the jumbo was found near Naharjan forest office under East Sonitpur forest division in Biswanath district.

Locals claimed miscreant killed the wild elephant brutally and chopped of its trunk, tusk, nail and meat.

Forest officials, however, did not come to know about the incident until a group Aranya Surakhya Samittee workers discover the carcass.

Divisional forest officer Rajen Choudhury said a team of doctor has conducted post-mortem examination of the carcass and reported is awaited.

He said the mark of bullet wounds was noticed on the body of the male elephant.
