The slain militant has been identified as 27-year-old Jordan Narzary alias N Jaolang. He was a cadre of the 38th batch of NDFB(S) and was a Platoon Commander of the outfit.

Jaolang was the son of late Thoila Narzary from No 1 Auxiguri village (Dwikhorguri) under Amguri PS in Chirang district.

As per official sources, on the basis of secret information about NDFB(S) militants taking taken shelter in a house of Belguri village under Amguri PS, a search operation was carried out by a team of Amguri Police and the Army in the intervening night of February 4 and 5, 2018.

When the firing stopped, the police and army approached the area and one grievously injured militant was found.

Informing that the militant was immediately shifted to the nearest medical hospital for treatment, sources stated that the examining doctor had declared him ‘brought dead’.

Sources further informed that the other militant managed to escape by taking advantage of darkness.

From the possession of the injured militant, one 7.62 mm pistol, one 7.62 mm magazine, two rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition, one 36 HE hand grenade, one mobile handset with one extra battery, two SIM cards were recovered.

Following the encounter, the house where the militants were taking shelter was searched.
