NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) and Jamshedpur FC played a 1-1 draw at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Sarusajai in Guwahati on Thursday.

“A brilliant goal from our captain Ogbeche early in the game gives the Highlanders a crucial lead after Komorski was sent off right at the cusp of half-time,” stated NEUFC on its official Twitter after the game.

The NEUFC also informed after finishing the game in Guwahati 1-1, they have emerged with one point putting them on the top of the ISL table.

NEUFC tweeted: “We emerge with a point that puts us back on top of the India Super League table and keeps our unbeaten run intact!”

In a match report published by India Today Bartholomew Obgeche (20th minute) gave the hosts early lead before Farukh Chaudhary cancelled out his strike in the 49th minute.

Both the teams maintained their unbeaten starts to the season.

It was the Highlanders, who created the first real opening in the game after Federico Gallego surged down the right flank. The Uruguayan squared the ball back for Ogbeche from the by-line but the Nigerian’s rushed shot was some way off target. It has also been reported that the Nigerian would not be denied his goal minutes later after an error from Mario Arques.

As per the report, the Jamshedpur midfielder was dispossessed off the ball in his own box by Gallego before Ogbeche showed a brilliant first touch and then toe-poked the ball past a hapless Subrata Paul.

Jamshedpur FC players almost hit back immediately after Calvo’s intended cross from the left-flank deceived Pawan Kumar before bouncing off the crossbar. On the other hand, NEUFC captain Ogbeche continued to look dangerous with his quick feet.

Ferrando’s boys began exerting a greater control on the ball as the half progressed but always seemed to run out of ideas in the final third.

NEUFC stated that they wanted “not the result” but to maintain their unbeaten run in the 5th edition of the ISL in which they have succeeded.
