IMPHAL: In a rapid response to requests from the civil administrations of Mizoram and Manipur, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles mobilized multiple flood relief columns to assist victims of Cyclone Remal.
According to a defence wing statement released on Wednesday (May 29), these forces have been actively involved in rescue and relief operations, particularly in Imphal City and Khuman Lampak in Imphal East district.

Cyclone Remal brought torrential rains to Northeast India on May 27 and 28, 2024, leading to widespread flooding.
Large parts of Imphal City and Imphal East district in Manipur were submerged, necessitating immediate relief efforts.
The civil administration’s request for aid was met with prompt action, with rescue and relief operations commencing by the night of May 28 and continuing through May 29.
