India on Monday registered its highest single-day spike in the number of coronavirus cases with 8392 infections reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry.
With the total number of COVID-19 cases rising every single day, India on Monday registered a total of 1,90,535 cases.

Meanwhile, the death toll due to COVID-19 cases rose to 5394 on Monday with 230 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
Of the 230 deaths reported since Sunday morning, 89 are in Maharashtra, 57 in Delhi, 31 in Gujarat, 13 in Tamil Nadu, 12 in Uttar Pradesh, eight in West Bengal, seven in Madhya Pradesh, five in Telangana, three in Karnataka, two in Andhra Pradesh and one each in Bihar, Punjab and Rajasthan.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the number of active coronavirus cases in the country is 93322 and a total of 91818 people have been cured or discharged from hospitals so far.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state in the country registering a total of 67,655 cases till Monday..
The second and the third states that have been worse affected by the coronavirus pandemic include Tamil Nadu and Delhi.
As per the Health Ministry data, Tamil Nadu had recorded a total of 22,333 cases so far and Delhi’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 19844 on Sunday.
India became the world’s seventh worst-hit country in terms of coronavirus cases, according to John Hopkins University tally.
