The Indian Institute of Technology – Guwahati (IIT-G) has installed five solar lights at Amtola village near Kukurmara in Kamrup district of Assam.
This was part of the activity of IIT Techniche 2018 edition, the annual techno-management fest of IIT Guwahati.

The installations of the solar lights were done by the Techniche team voluntarily with the support of village residents and Susconnect Private Limited.
Notably, Amtola is quite underdeveloped with respect to technical and infrastructural aspects.
Over the years, Techniche has been taking the initiative of installing street lights in remote areas around the institute.

Breaking away from the conventional electrical lights, the institute has inducted energy efficient solar lights with the support of Susconnect Private Limited.
The Techniche team of IIT-G have exuded confidence that similar initiatives will continue in the days to come as it has been well appreciated by the locals.
It all started with a vision of revitalizing underdeveloped villages in the outskirts of Guwahati, IIT Techniche not only aims at tackling the shortcomings in infrastructure, but also promoting new and advanced technical support to the villages.
Techniche believes in cohesive development of both rural and semi-rural areas, and the initiative of installing energy efficient solar lights in the villages is a part of this programme.
Techniche has so far installed over 100 LED street lights in more than 50 villages.
The IIT Techniche has been involved in various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in and around IIT-G every year.
