Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and Jorhat MLA Hitendra Nath Goswami on Tuesday said that Community or Home Science should be a subject in APSC exams.
Inaugurating the College complex of the College of Community Science at the Assam Agricultural University here, Goswami asked the Dean of the College Satwinder Kaur to place the proposal to the APSC chairman and that he would help in getting the subject included.

He further said that the College should have its own placement cell separate from the one which the University had.
Goswami also asked the College to take up skill development training programmes along with its certificate courses.
Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa who had also attended the inaugural ceremony said that products in apparel designing and food and nutrition should be marketed beyond the state borders.

Praising the Food and Nutrition department for producing the low cost baby food Assam Mix with indigenous items, Tasa said that this should be pushed to other states as well.
Vice Chancellor of Assam Agricultural University K M Bujarbaruah said that when he had taken charge here he had seen the deplorable condition of the College which did not have much space.
“At first the new College project was estimated at Rs 2.5 crore but this had gone up to Rs 5 crore,” he said.
Bujarbaruah further said that ICAR would be sanctioning Rs 10 crore for research under All India Coordinated Research Project funds in the next three years for the College and that elevated research would qualify the College for more funding.
