On occasion of Rongali Bihu, the Hojai District Sadou Asom Kabi Sanmilan organised a special programme – Bohagii Baron – on Sunday in the district where 45 well-known social workers and literary personalities of Hojai district were honoured.
Under the aegis of the Hojai District Sadou Asom Kabi Sanmilan, seven branches of the Sanmilan viz., Hojai, Jamunamukh, Lanka, Kaki, Nilbagan, Daboka and Murajhar simultaneously organised the special programme ‘Bohagii Baron’ in their respective branches.
In a press communiqué issued by the President of Hojai District Sadou Asom Kabi Sanmilan, Dr Hashinuz Sultan and Secretary Tapan Kumar Borah stated: “Each Branch President, Secretary along with their members visited the houses of noted social workers and literary personalities and honoured them with a phulam gamochas, books and citations.”
The literary figures and social workers, who were honoured at Jamunamukh, are Kushal Borah, Madhav Borah, Gajen Gogoi, Korudan Nath, Sirajuddin Ahmed, Sujit Chakraborty and Abdul Wahid Choudhury.
At Daboka, Dr Machdar Ali Laskar, Abdul Matin Laskar, Sheikh Maulana Arthur Rahman Khan were honoured.
At Nilbagan, Athar Ali Choudhury, Alhaz Mausabar Ali Laskar, Alhaz Khaliur Rahman Laskar, Maniruddin Choudhury, Aluddin Ahmed, Ex-minister Hazi Abdul Rouf, Maulana Abdul Mausabir, Abdul Matin Laskar, Maulana Faizur Rahman were honoured by the Sanmilan.
At Hojai, Padma Borah, Dimeshwar Borah, Kusheswar Modai, Dr KI Singh and Hem Baruah were honoured.
At Lanka, Jay Gobind Saika, Bani Kanta Saika, Bharat Tamuli Phukan, TT Phukan, Pitambar Borah and Ram Chandra Goswami were honoured.
At Kaki, Lakhi Prasad Borah, Mohibebuddin Ahmed, Mohan Bacsha, MR Modaii, G Borah, K Saika, A Saikia, Korumal Sangmaii, M Nath and Manoranjan Biswas were honoured.
At Murajhar, Hussain Ahmed Hamadii, Dr Ahidur Rahman Choudhury, Alooyaya Begum Talukdar, Maulana MR Choudhury, Makhanuddin Ahmed and Bashir Uddin were honoured by the Sanmilan.
The Hojai District Sadou Asom Kabi Sanmilan has congratulated and lauded each of its branches for successful completion of this special programme.
