Shillong Lajong gear up for their second consecutive away game of Hero I-League 2018-19 season against Gokulam Kerala on Sunday at the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode.

The match, which will begin at 5 PM, will be telecast live on Star Sports as well as digital platforms like Hotstar and Jio TV.

Gokulam Kerala will host Shillong Lajong on Sunday after having played three matches, out of which they drew twice and lost once. After managing a draw against Mohun Bagan and Neroca, they lost their last match against Southern rivals Chennai City on 4th November by a score line of 2-3 at home.

Foreign recruit, Antonio German and local lad Suhair found their names on the score sheet for Gokulam Kerala in their last game, stated a preview posted on the official website of Shillong Lajong FC.

Shillong Lajong kicked off their I-league campaign with a home win against Aizawl FC but lost their second home game against East Bengal. They then lost against Indian arrows on 5th November away at Cuttack by 1-0 margin.

The match on Sunday promises to be an interesting encounter as the Lajong youngsters hope to bounce back from two consecutive losses while the host is determined to get their first victory at home.

Head coach Alison Kharsyntiew, while speaking about his team’s preparation ahead of the match, said, “Preparation has been good. The boys have recovered well and we have been working on our errors and hopefully the boys will put up a good performance on Sunday.”

“Gokulam is a good side. They have a balanced squad with young and experienced players. We have to work very hard to beat them,” added Kharsyntiew.

He further said, “I want the players to put more energy and quality in the final third. We aim for nothing less than 3 points.”
