While handling medical emergencies during the lockdown has been a problem for many, the Health Travellers Worldwide (HTW) has found a way to help.
Accredited by NABH, the Health Travellers Worldwide is a health advisory firm that helps critically ill patients seeking quality healthcare services abroad.
And amid the lockdown, the firm is providing access through its platform to patients, especially from Northeast India and Bhutan to avail critical healthcare advices.
HTW has roped in some top specialist doctors to offer their services for free to patients in northeast India and Bhutan.
The Chennai-based firm has curated top doctors from across the country and through their Facebook Live Series every Saturday at 4 pm.
Dr. M.M. Yusuf, a well known cardiothoracic surgeon, trained in the UK and Belgium, will attend the programme at 4 pm on Saturday, and answer the questions of the patients.
The doctors directly address common medical concerns on how to stay healthy during the lockdown.
“One could directly ask questions and get instant replies from the experts through our Facebook Page,” Dr. Vinitha, an in-house Medical Consultant at HTW, said. People can interact with experts at: https://www.facebook.com/HealthTravellersWorldwide
During the beginning of the lockdown, HTW launched a ‘Voluntary Virtual Clinic’ with top doctors from India for complex and critical illnesses, and got fantastic response.
“We have been receiving continuous calls and helping out patients via Tele-consultation,” Zakariah Ahmed, Founder and Chief Mentor, HTW, said.
Ahmed, who hails from Guwahati, said, the HTW team also helped people from some of the remote areas in the Northeast India to arrange ambulances, to reach nearest hospitals.
“This medium not only prevents overcrowding at hospitals and clinics, but also lowers the risk of exposure to infection and spread of infection,” Ahmed said.
He said people living in some of the remote locations of Northeast and Bhutan can benefit from this facility.
