Swachh Bharat Summer Internship, a joint initiative of Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Human Resources Development and Youth Affairs & Sports was conducted successfully in Hailakandi district.

Altogether 39 teams and individuals enrolled for 100-hour internship and worked in various components of swachhata like awareness campaigns, village cleanliness drive, door-to-door campaign to motivate hand wash and hygienic habits, street cleaning, waste collection and disposal, wall writing, posters writing, rally, street play, and screening of film on swachhata.

Meanwhile, a selection committee meeting held recently under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Adil Khan, selected the best three teams for a prize of Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Member Secretary and District Youth Coordinator, Sekhar Ranjan Deb, NSS Programme Coordinator, Dr Yagneswar Deb, Rotarian Harkishore Chanda and SDO, Agriculture, AR Ahmed were present.

The committee unanimously selected Native Pride Club, Matrisankalpa Social Welfare Organization and Amarjyoti Club as best three teams on the basis of their performance and documentation. Native Pride Club by virtue of being the best team will represent the district in the state level competition.
