The GMC officials started working to repair the leakage on the evening of July 4. Resultantly, water supply to the Sarania reservoir was stopped for two days.

The water supply was resumed on July 6 but the complete restoration of the road which was dug for repairing the pipeline will take around a week.

The traffic will have to be diverted for a week because there are many works which will be carried out to restore the road.

5 feet of the road was dug where the pipeline is laid. Therefore, there will be water bound macadam (WBM) works, earth filling and reconstruction of the concrete road.

Many similar major pipelines under the roads across Guwahati are undergoing construction works.
