Surprisingly, some of the finest schools of Guwahati – Delhi Public School, National Public School and Royal Global School decided to remain closed on Saturday. Even some of them rescheduled examinations for to avoid any inconvenience either to the students or to the summit delegates.

Many schools situated on National Highway-37 on Lokhra Road have received an intimation to remain closed on February 3, as the Global Investor’s Summit will kick-start in the city from that day.

Interestingly, DPS (Khanapara) has not come out with any such intimation.

However, Royal Global School, another school situated on Highway, which is near the venue for the investment summit will remain closed on Saturday.

This order is not applicable for other schools of the city. Sabah Ahmed, faculty at Don Bosco School, Panbazar has confirmed that his school will remain open on Saturday.

Meanwhile, when asked whether the district administration has ordered the schools close to the highway to remain closed on Saturday, Dr M Angamuthu, Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) replied in a monosyllable, ‘No.’

So, as the district administration has refused passing any such order, it is a bit mysterious that these schools have decided to keep their shutters down on Saturday.
