Rima Das directed ‘Bulbul Can Sing‘ has lost the race for Oscars this year to Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’.
‘Gully Boy’ on Saturday was announced as India’s official entry for the 92nd Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
The film stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt and it tells the story of a rapper from the streets of Mumbai.
The movie was loved by the Indian audience and it was also received immense appreciation at the global level.
Zoya’s brother Farhan Akhtar sharing the news via Twitter wrote, “#GullyBoy has been selected as India’s official entry to the 92nd Oscar Awards. #apnatimeaayega Thank you to the film federation and congratulations #Zoya @kagtireema @ritesh_sid @RanveerOfficial @aliaa08 @SiddhantChturvD @kalkikanmani & cast, crew and hip hop crew (sic).”
Rima Das’ ‘Bulbul Can Singh’ so far has won 13 international awards and was also awarded the Rajat Kamal for Best Assamese movie at the 66th National Film Awards.
The movie was released in Assam on Friday and so far it has been accepted widely by the audience.
